iPhone vs. Crackberry

My cell phone contract is up next month and since my Razr frequently gives me problems (which I don't tolerate very well), I'm looking for a new phone. Of course, as many of you know, I'm in love with my MacBook. Love Apple, Love iPod, Love it all.. So, the iPhone is high on the list except it will cost me a minimum of $200 buckaroos.

I could get the Crackberry which is very usable and comes in a cool red color. I could get it for free on Amazon. Actually, the phone cost .01 cents and I get a $75.00 rebate so they would pay me to get the phone! But, let's face it, it's not as cool as the iPhone and I'm afraid it won't speak the same language that my MacBook speaks...

So, what to do, what to do??

Spread the Word!

I know many of my friends love Christian music the same way I do. I especially love singers who write their own songs. I think it's great when a talented person can make scripture come alive in a great song. (Rich Mullins) It's not often that you find that great combination but my Boo and I happened upon this kid who I think is awesome. Stephen Miller is the worship leader at Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land, Texas. If you get a chance to stop by their 11:00 service one Sunday, I recommend it. We were pleasantly surprised by the preaching as well as the music.

The Martyr of Seattle Grace...

I love Grey's Anatomy. It's the only show I bother to keep up with on a regular basis. Although, I have become a fan of some of the reality shows on the Bravo channel... One thing I really dislike about Grey's Anatomy is Katharine Heigl. I'm one of those people that if I don't like the real person, it's really hard for me to watch them acting like someone they are not...even if they do a really good job at it...I suck it up for Grey's though....

So, I read recently that ole Katharine had decided to take her name out of the running for an Emmy nomination because she didn't feel she had been given good enough material from the writers this past season to warrant an award. Wah-Wah little cry baby. This is one of the reasons I dislike her. She's such a fake and isn't very good at hiding it despite her attempts.

She's one of those who will say, "Oh, I'm not beautiful or a good actress" people but you can tell she's thinking, "Oh yeah, I'm drop dead gorgeous and I deserve every stinking acting award out there..." Well, guess what Katharine, maybe your acting wasn't good enough for an Emmy either....Maybe your lame attempt to get a better contract offer won't work. The character of Izzie Stephens should be the next one to leave Seattle Grace but please, not in a spin off!!

Happy Birthday to the Boss Woman!

Today, we switched the phone over to the answering service and all went to lunch at Lupe Tortilla for the boss' birthday. A lunch that ended up costing my Boo and I $65.00 since we each count individually when it comes to splitting the check. Of course, when it comes to giving, no one minds counting us as "one." But I digress.

So, we picked up balloons, a cake and all went to lunch. Everyone seemed to be having fun until the cake our receptionist picked up was brought to the table. The look on Miranda Priestley's, oops, the Boss' face was not pleasant. She scrunched up her face and before the cake could even be cut said, "Eww, I don't like this kind of cake." Yes, she was 45 today, if I'm not mistaken. Apparently another thing that the boss lady and I have in common is the type of icing we like. Buttercream only! None of that whipped crap. Yuck! So, we cut her a piece and she didn't even eat it. The receptionist explained that we asked her husband yesterday what kind of cake she liked and we got the exact thing he told us to get! Here comes the doozy of the day. Anna Wintour, I mean, the boss lady said, "He's such a f-c-k-ng d*mb*ss!" Geez Louise. It's a cake! My Boo left the A/C on 70 degrees all day but I think I'll keep him, know what I mean?? He occasionally forgets to set the alarm at night but I still think he hung the dang moon. Now, I will admit, he knows exactly what kind of cake I like and he also knows that WHIPPED ICING IS NEVER ALLOWED!! Maybe her husband never forgets to set the alarm...

Beth, this blog is not for you...

I was just telling my Boo tonight that I really love John Mayer's songs. I think he's an excellent songwriter and musician. I just can't get over the fact that he's such a man-ho and...he dated Jessica Simpson!!!!! Who does that and why???? Ewwww.... In my mind, I think he just wants to sleep with as many girls and possible and all he cares about is how they look. I realize that may not really be true but that's just my view of him. (Whatever, it's totally true!) I'm not certain why this bothers me about him and not some of the other greats out there...

Rob Thomas - Great singer/songwriter...love him and, as far as I know, not a man-ho.

Elton John - okay, yes, he's somewhat of a man-ho too but I've been singing all of his great songs since I was a little kid so he's exempt...B-B-B-Benny and the Jets...!!

Rich Mullins - I don't need to say anymore. Perhaps the worlds greatest lyricist and musician. Although, I'm pretty sure he was smoking something at times.... :) Always was, always will be exempt especially since he's singing for Jesus now...

James Taylor - Major drug head at one point, but he's exempt too...Love him...

Billy Joel - He was married to the meanest of the Stepford Wives, Christie Brinkley, but, yeah, you guessed it. He's exempt too. Love him...

Paul McCartney - He was a Beatle, He wrote some of the greatest songs in history. Totally exempt even after that major Heather Mills misstep and letting his former wife, Linda, sing backup with Wings...

So, I guess it's just John that I have a problem with. I don't know why, it just is what it is. I'm sure he's devastated but maybe one day, after many, many great songs he too can be put on the "exempt list"...

The Dark Knight...A Review

I was up early on this summer Saturday in July to see the first showing today of the latest Batman installment, "The Dark Knight." I had been anticipating this sequel for about two years. I loved the last Batman flick in 2005. Generally speaking, I'm a superhero movie fan. Of course, this film has been talked about even more because of the late actor, Heath Ledger and his death just prior to the film's completion earlier this year. More on Heath later. So, on to the review...

Basically, I thought the film was great. It is a dark film. There are not many laughs, but I still enjoyed it. I'm okay with darkness. In my opinion, the darkness had a purpose. (My Boo disagreed on this point.) It tried to explore the side of humanity that we would rather not delve into but we all know exists. Also, it attempts to define, what is a "hero?" Can a "hero" be both good and bad in society's opinion if that is what society truly needs? How will people react in the face of their own death? Would they help others or help themselves? Very interesting to me. The story line gets a little hard to follow at times when certain cops become "dirty cops" and sometimes you feel like you're supposed to have a revelation about some character but you don't.... The special effects were awesome and it had one of the best truck crashes I think I've seen on film.

Christian Bale was very good, once again, as Batman. I love Michael Cain so in my eyes, he's pretty much always perfect but his point on humor as Alfred is so great. Morgan Freeman is back again but in a smaller role. Aaron Eckhardt played District Attorney, Harvey Dent and his reviews I read were not good. I disagree. I think he did a great job in this role. Maggie Gyllenhall...Um, not so good as Rachel Dawes. Where was Mrs. Cruise this time?

So, what about Heath? There has been Oscar buzz you know... Well, first, let me say that I hate it when there is "award talk" after someone dies. Don't get me wrong, I think Heath Ledger was one of the best actors around. If you saw the film "Brokeback Mountain" you know what I mean. In my opinion, that is the film he deserved to win the Oscar for. Even if you don't agree with the subject matter, his performance was brilliant. He was also excellent as the Joker. He was evil, but in a deliciously smart way. He was a villian with a purpose and in his own sick, demented way thought he was doing what needed to be done. Yes, Heath was wonderful in this role. He deserves all the raves he's being given. Oscar worthy? Well, I guess I want to see what the rest of the movie year brings us in the way of performances. But, Heath, he rocked the Joker like no one else....okay, except maybe Jack...
