Decisive Win...

For all those who want to try to compare Obama's recent victory with that of Bush's "victory" in 2004...Give me a serious break. Obama won a decisive victory. The last numbers I saw had him with a a win of over 176 electoral votes, 6% AND...(drum roll)...over SEVEN MILLION MORE PEOPLE IN THE POPULAR VOTE. He won, the people have spoken, the country is electrified and excited again, get over it.

Yes he won, and congrats to him, I hope he can really make some changes in what has become a very troubled country. I hope he can stimulate some bi-partisan legislation to get our country back on line, and I hope he and the Dem controlled Congress don't tell the rest of the congress and a large portion of this country to shove off.

But 6% is hardly a landslide. here in GA, we have a runoff for Senator, because of 5%, it was not enough of a margin of victory. When 124 Million people vote, and there are only 7 million in difference, that is not that much, 7Million sounds like a lot on its own, but when it is viewed as a part of the big picture, it really looses some of its grandness. It was the largest % win since Clinton beat Dole, but really, there was no race there.

The electoral vote was a landslide, but I have already commented on my thoughts on that antiquated process, and how it discredits the votes of the minority in their state. Yes Obama still won by popular vote, but not by as much. Certainly not in as dominating a fashion as it would seem when looking at just the Electoral Results. I mean, look at the 2000 Election, Gore won that on Popular, but the Electoral gave the win to Bush. It is a system that needs to go.

Ok, enough rambling.

I agree, in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't a "landslide" but I was comparing it to Bush's win in 2004. In those terms, it was a much more decisive win...
