In the Office Yesterday...

I was putting some paperwork into a client file yesterday and saw some information about "Erectile Dysfunction" in the file. Yes, in our type of law, we see a little of everything and a whole lot of personal information about people. Once I saw the ad, I just started reading out loud. Here's how it went:

Me: (reading from ad): "How to tell if you have erectile dysfunction". "Wow, that should be pretty easy to figure out!."

Co-Worker: "Yeah, that's not a hard one..." (no pun intended by co-worker)...

I almost died laughing!

:-)

The New Boss Lady..

Last week, I was all prepared to come home and write a terrific rant on my blog about my, I mean our, new boss and how horrible she is. ("Our" meaning the hubby and I have the same boss!) I was ready to go on and on about how self absorbed, mean, demeaning and downright rude she is and how she thinks the world revolves around her. (Wrong, it revolves around me! Hello, McFly?!!) Last week was a tough week with a really big grandparent visitation case that our boss was very passionate about winning. We, including the boss, worked hard on this case. Things got a little heated at times...

Then, last night, out of nowhere, she hands my hubby a $100 dollar bill and says "take your wife out to a nice dinner, you deserve it." Wow. I didn't know what to say. Then, tonight, she asks us to go for a quick drink after work and it ends up being two bottles of wine, two pizza's, an appetizer and dessert at Carrabba's. She spent over $100 dollars on dinner tonight. In just a few days, I've changed my opinion of her and not just because she bought us food. She really is passionate and just wants things to be right. She's damn good at what she does and I admire that. I think I get her. Even when I had my worst thoughts about her over the last two weeks, there was some part of me that still really liked her. Maybe it's because we're a lot alike in many ways. Maybe it's because I rushed to an opinion too quickly. She can still make my blood boil but for whatever reason, I still like her... That's more than I can say for the last five bosses I've had! We're making progress here! :)

Lola May Be On The Carmax Lot Soon...

Yes, Lola, my cute as can be 2004 VW convertible is once again on the fritz. The hubby and I got to the local grocery store today to buy some grub for our holiday lunch. We finish shopping, go to the car and guess what. Lola refuses to start. Damn! It's hot, I have ice cream melting in the back seat and all I can think about is the Honda lot close to the house...Damn car. I will never and I repeat never, buy another VW. Not even a cute one..

Of course, the hubby is okay since we're getting to drive his Mom's brand new hard top Miata tomorrow. Oh, his car is in the shop since his A/C went out last week! Damn!!

I'm SO Excited

Yep, I'm excited! I'm moving out in three weeks or so and guess what I did today... Yes, I set up my appointment to have my Dish Network installed at the new pad and I can't wait!! No more freakin' rabbit ears to attack me! (Still a long, very un-funny story in my opinion!) 200 channels of pure, channel flipping during the commercials bliss. AND..I also get DVR which means for the first time in about 7 years I will be able to record a freaking show when I want to!!

Hallelujah, Thank You Jesus. <----(For those of you who think I am just saying that to be funny, think again. I REALLY mean it!!) :-)

Shalom Out!

Honda Sends Detroit Scrambling!

I read an article on cnn.com today that said "Honda would send Detroit scrambling" with it's new hybrid offerings in 2009. Apparently, Honda has several new hybrids being introduced and they are vowing to keep the cost difference between the regular and hybrid vehicles to a mere $1900.00. Some hybrid versions can increase the cost of a vehicle by $4800.00 or more. Of course, my thought was, "tell me something I don't already know" or "what's new?" Honda and other foreign automakers have had Detroit by their privates for a long time now. When is "Detroit" going to wake up? American automakers have completely lost their innovation, and frankly, they seem to have no clue about the pulse of the American car buyer. Don't even get me started about how "quality is NOT job one" with Detroit! Of course, if we don't stop making football and cheerleading more important than math and science in the classrooms of America we're all going to be having Chinese food for dinner every night. Know what I mean?

First Week Back At Work...

...and my arse is worn out! Dang, I am super tired as I type this post and I've been tired every single day that I've worked this week. It's hell getting up at 6:00am! I'm hoping I'll get used to it again. More good news, I think we decided on an apartment in The Woodlands today. It's not the greatest apartment. It's an older complex and could use some updating (especially the kitchen appliances) but it's got two bedrooms (kinda small), two bathrooms, a living area that we should be able to fit the piano and our furniture in, AND...BONUS...it's right across the street (literally) from where we work! Oh, and it's about $200 a month less than anything else we looked at AND we can move in right away, AND..(yes one more plus)...I WILL HAVE CABLE TV FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ALMOST FIVE YEARS! CAN I GET A WITNESS? (Hallelujah, Thank You J.C.) No more being attacked by the friggin' "rabbit ears"....(Long story)..

So, now we just need to decide a date to move and if we're going to go to the extra expense of hiring movers or try to do it ourselves. I'm voting for movers but at this point, I don't really give a dang...just get my arse moved....

Psychology Professor Found

I got news tonight about my Psychology professor who did not show up for our final exam on Monday night. After getting calls from many concerned students telling her something was wrong, myself included, the lady in charge of the Psychology department decided to go to his apartment to see if he was there. He had not been answering his home phone or cell phone. She found him laying on the floor of his apartment. It looks as though he was getting ready to leave and collapsed. He was fully dressed and his briefcase and final exams were lying on the floor next to him. He was taken to the hospital and he is unable to speak. Apparently, he's in pretty bad shape and they don't know if he's going to make it or not.

Please say a prayer for Dr. Yekell.

Putting On Your Britches...

You know that old saying, "He puts his pants on the same way I do...one leg at a time." Well, this video may have you thinking twice about that adage. I laughed my arse off again watching this one. God, I love You Tube.

Women..Are You "The Tinkler"??

I found this humorous article on CNN.com. All women know what this article is talking about. "The Tinkler" has struck almost every public restroom I've ever had the displeasure of using. Are you a "tinkler?" Do you hover above the potty, spraying the seat and floor like you are marking your territory and then walk away as if your Mom is going to come along and clean it up? If yes, YOU are a "tinkler"...

Catch the very funny article from Oprah.com here.

Goofing Off

Okay, so I'm goofing off a little while I should be studying for the last 3 finals I have this week!

The hubby and I went to see "Iron Man" after a stellar recommendation from my brother, who is affectionately known as "The Wubbster." Normally we like the same movies and I LOVE most superhero movies so I knew I would like it. I wasn't sure about the hubby but he actually liked it also! To see the trailer, click below...check it out..THUMBS UP!!

Now, this is the movie that I CANNOT hardly wait to see. The next Batman flick with Heath Ledger as the Joker. "Batman: The Dark Knight". It has nothing to do with Heath or his sad death but the fact that I loved the last Batman flick with Christian Bale. Can't wait!! See trailer below...

Back to work...

New Job!

Well, I have decided to take a job working for my husband's boss at his law firm in The Woodlands. It's not much money although I'm certain she's paying me way more than the last girl made. This means that there will be much higher expectations. That doesn't concern me much.
I am excited that it's NOT the mortgage business and I knew that to start in a new field I would have to take a major pay cut, which I have!

We'll see how this goes. The hubby and I are planning to try to move to The Woodlands area soon so it will cut our cost to commute the almost 100 miles a day. It's costing now about $500 per month in gas and tolls, not to mention the wear and tear on the car. Yep, it's time to move.

So, this means that I will probably enroll in Montgomery Country Community College (Lone Star) in the fall. I'm hoping to live "in district" and pay less tuition than I've been paying to HCC. I'm also hoping they have better quality instructors although it's still community college.

All for now....SHALOM OUT!

Professor still MIA

Well, my Psych professor is still MIA as of this morning when I spoke to the department. My fellow students and I are getting concerned that something is very wrong at this point. I do hope he's alright...

Those Crazy Professors..(again)

Well, I showed up at 4:30pm for my Psychology final exam that was supposed to be from 5:00 - 7:00pm tonight. Problem is, my professor never showed up! (I really do hope he's okay. He's always looked a little frail and he's never been great at remembering things.)

I found out last week that we are having TWO, yes, TWO final exams in my Biology class. I complained to the Department Head today who basically didn't give a rip. He sounded about as intelligent as George W. and I kept picturing someone who was spitting into a cup, scratching his ass and getting ready to go home and shoot something for dinner. What an idiot!

Where, exactly, does HCC find these people?
