Just a Thought..

My Boo and I were talking a while back about the Americans with Disabilities Act and if people who are severely overweight should be included in it's protections. My Boo's thinking was that the ADA covers individuals who cannot help their disabilities. True, I get that point. But, what about the drunk driver who crashed his car and is now in a wheelchair? He gets the protections of the ADA. He/She didn't have to be an idiot and drive drunk. What about the people who take risks and bungee jump or get hurt while skydiving or something like that? Just hypotheticals, of course. I'm not saying that obese persons should or should not be protected. I haven't done enough research or thought on my own to make a decision either way. I think it's interesting that most would agree in that obese people can "help" it thereby they do not deserve any sympathy.
Again, just a thought....

The Sacredness of Life

I happen to be of the belief that abortion is wrong. Yes, I am a pro-life female. Imagine that...
Anyhoo, for many years while I've been pro-life, I have also been pro-death penalty. This has been a somewhat constant debate between my Boo and I. He is staunchly anti-death penalty. I must admit, he makes an excellent point. How can you say "life is sacred" and be pro-death penalty? How can you say, "only God has the power to say when someone dies" if you are in favor of the death penalty?

Some would say, "Oh but babies are innocent". Yes, they are. Unless, you're a Baptist, then they're "little sinners"... Yes, we actually heard that in a sermon on Sunday. Glad that was my last Sunday to go there. But, I digress... I'm not trying to write a diatribe against the death penalty here. This is a tough issue. I actually go online and read the last words from the prisioners before they die by lethal injection. I think sometimes, "wow, that's a human life someone just took". Then I read what they did and it makes me think they got what they deserved.

I think that the fact that I even think about it is progress. Thanks Boo, for always making me think...

Christie Brinkley...She Ain't As Nice As She Looks...

Also, earlier this week, I heard about Christie Brinkley and her ongoing divorce from her architect husband who got caught sleeping with an 18 year old assistant in his office. While I would want to exact as much revenge as possible were I in her shoes, I would hope that I would not use my children to do it.

Apparently, the Amicus Attorney appointed for her children by the court filed a Motion to ask the judge to keep the divorce private instead of public because he felt it would be best for the children. Of course, her husband and his attorney jumped on board with the Amicus and were in favor of a private trial (to keep him from being embarrassed any further in public). So, in comes Christie who says she's in favor of keeping the proceedings public as they normally are because that's the law. Whatever. She wants to force her soon to be slimy ex husband to settle and give her whatever she wants. To hell with what's best for her kids.

Some would say this is a very sly move on her lawyer's part. I say, "shame on you Christie". Do what's best for your kids, not you...

Just a Tip..

I realize this post is a little random...but..I was just thinking about this after a very interesting conversation in the work place yesterday....

If you have to preface a statement you are about to make by saying, "I don't mean to be racist or anything"..it probably means you're a racist making a racist statement.
Just a thought...

Paparazzi Gets His Booty Kicked

I saw on the news earlier this week that a paparazzi photographer got his behind womped while attempting to take photos of Matt McConaughey while he was surfing at a Malibu beach. No, Matt didn't do anything but the other local Malibu surfers did. They beat up on the photographer and dragged him into the water. Several comments could be heard on the video such as "we don't want you here", "get off our beach", etc..

This is amusing to me. No, not because I think the photographer got what he deserved. This guy was doing his job. Certainly not because I felt sorry for Matt. No, celebrities need the press as much as the press needs them as far as I'm concerned. You (actors/musicians etc) get paid huge sums of money for being a "celebrity" and living a pretty charmed life and then want to whine about your privacy. I'm amused at the people who felt the need to beat him up. How many "People", "Star", "National Enquirer", "Us" or other magazines have they purchased? Maybe none since celebrities are probably a part of their everyday lives. But, my guess is, they've purchased some of them.

This is simple supply and demand. If we, the consumer, would stop buying these magazines then the photographers would not have a job. I made a decision this year to stop reading these magazines when it finally hit me that the world is more interested in what Paris Hilton did last night than who was running for President, who is starving in the world, global warming just to name a few huge issues. Don't get me wrong, I love entertainment, movies and all of it. I just don't want to be a part of the problem anymore. People need to pay attention to their cities, states, country and the world. Hello? Who gives a crap what some loser like Paris Hilton did or does?? Pay attention to something of real importance.

My Boo

As I type this post right now, my Boo is watching Animal Planet on the cable he said was stupid. He also said he hates T.V. but he's looking pretty content right about now all stretched out on the couch watching crazy people catch snakes...

I win...

Love you Boo..

:-)

I'm Back...

Well, it was a major accomplishment that should have been minor but we now have our DSL service so I can be up and blogging again.  Of course, the mound of unpacked boxes I should be unpacking instead may win out...

Update soon...

Shalom Out.

Me, The Manager..

Why?  Why does this ALWAYS happen to me?  I have said for a loooong time now that all I want is to "go to work and go home."  I do not want to be a manager.  I hate being a manager. Really what I want is to be the the stay at home, do whatever I want, childless wife of an insanely wealthy lawyer.  (All said wealth being acquired DURING the marriage of course!)  I can totally get with that program!  My hubby, however cannot.  He's probably right when he tells me that I will just watch Oprah and be about 400lbs if I didn't stay busy.  No, actually that was ME that said that and I'm SO right!

So, I started as a "Legal Assistant" AKA "File Clerk" at his law firm one month ago, yesterday. I went into this with the idea that I would learn everything I could and of course, with my personality, I started to take over.  I can't help it, it's just how I am.  As much as I tried to not do it, I did it.  I think I was trying to make decisions and boss people around on my second day. The hubby got me back in line and I thought I was doing good until....today.  As of today, the Office Manager is fired and I have now somehow gotten roped into doing her duties. How in the hell does this happen to me??  Geez, can't I just have my pee on position and be done with it already?

Please, someone tell me how to be the "pee on" and be done with it already!!!

Fat Voters

Okay, so I did chuckle when I saw this on The Onion also. It still proves my point that it's "okay" to make fun of fat people. We're easy targets. But, in the end, I still have a sense of humor and, it's kinda funny. What about those alcoholic, smoking, drughead voters?
