Movie starring Reese Witherspoon (my hero from Legally Blonde!!) and Jake Gyllenhaal. Awesome movie although disturbing. The special features section includes a documentary titled "Outlawed" which is a must view for everyone!

Beijing Olympics
Should we boycott the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing? Well, as much as I feel for the athletes who spend their lives preparing for competition, I think that it is a moral wrong to allow international competition that attracts many tourists and millions of dollars to a country that has so vile a reputation for human rights violations. Of course, if the United States were to boycott the games, it would be a way for us to peacefully protest. I'm not so sure America knows how to do that and, let's face it, in America it's all about "winning the gold", and showing our athletic prowess to the world. I would be very surprised indeed to see America boycott these games. Also, I think the members of the Olympic Committee should be tested for mental defects for even allowing China to be in contention for the games.
So, once again, America will help funnel millions of dollars to communist, fascist or just plain oppressive regime's who don't respect human rights. Be it China or Saudi Arabia etc, etc, etc.

Lawyer?
Yesterday, after successfully debating my Psychology Professor about how horrible his test was, how half the material on the test was not in our book and how poorly worded the test was...I had a thought....Maybe I should be a lawyer...My grade went from an 82 to a 94 in less than an hour people! The entire class benefited from my ranting about the stupid test, which, by the way, really was a lame ass excuse for a test.
Over dinner, after I told my husband the whole story (poor thing), he said "maybe you should be a lawyer, you would be good at it." Well, I am the "ass kicker" of the two of us. My hubby is a lawyer so I figure I've already got a head start, right?
Of course, it would mean many more years of school and frankly, I'm not certain I want to work that hard. I'm getting too damn old for this hard work crap! I keep trying to retire and stay home and watch Oprah but it's not really working for me so far.
So, what do you think? Lawyer/Nurse? Lawyer/Nurse? My hubby is voting for med school by the way!!

Lovin' my MAC
I tried using my hubby's PC this morning and was for a brief moment back in the world of "windows hell"....Now that I have a MAC I realize:
1. It doesn't take 20 mins for your computer to start
2. I can actually load software without 5 billion "are you sure" questions
3. If I don't know how to do something, it normally takes me 5 minutes, not 5 years to figure it out!
That's just the top three. I could go on, but, I won't bore you. I'm lovin' my apple...

Barack On The View
Hello all..
Barack Obama will be on "The View" tomorrow morning. For everyone here in Houston, that's ABC at 10:00am. It should be interesting to see how ultra conservative Elizabeth handles it. She's been all over the "Barack has a racist pastor and should cut ties with him" thing...
I will be out having my last joyful, non-working, fun Friday with my cute Hubby. He's going to work on Monday at a family law firm in The Woodlands. Dang, I just realized that I will probably miss "The View" because I'll be out having fun. I can't even tape it or DVR it because we currently live in the dark ages of television. If you get reception from the bunny ears it's a freakin' miracle. Guess I'll just have to hope that it will show up on You Tube...But, alas, there are worst things in the world...

Seeking Truth...Not PARTIAL Truth
There is an awesome article on CNN.com as part of Anderson Cooper's 360 Blog. Roland Martin wrote a blog entry concerning the Reverend Wright (Obama's pastor) and picked apart a sermon he preached on September 16, 2001, after the attacks of 9/11. Roland tells his readers that as a journalist his job is to "seek truth, not partial truth." Check it out!

Barack and his racist Pastor
Well, now Barack is being held accountable for his pastor's "racist" comments... Well, I used to attend a church here in Houston for about four years and crap, I sure don't want to be held accountable for what our pastor had to say each Sunday. He really didn't have anything to say at all except "Rah-Rah, we're Methodists!" "Whoo-Hoo, we're Methodists". I know it's not exactly newsworthy, inflammatory or racist, but it sure is stupid. I wouldn't want anyone holding me accountable for his "stupidness". Yeah, yeah, I went there for four years ...that's a whole other story...
Anyhoo..so I've listened to some of these supposed "racist" remarks that this minister made against whites. Being white myself, I was interested. Being that I voted for Barack in the primary, my curiosity was peaked. You know what I found? A whole lot of nothing! I think the one comment I've seen the most on the news was this minister saying: "not God bless America, it 's God damn America".... Well, guess what. We, as a society, have done things that would cause someone to say "God damn America." We are, in fact, doing something like that right now with our "war against terrorism" in Iraq. I would hate Americans and say "God damn America" if I lived in a country and America invaded my country, disrupted my way of life and killed my relatives for no good reason. Hello, McFly?
So, in the end, I've decided this whole "Obama has a racist minister" thing is a whole lot of crap and I think Obama was very smart in his speech to try to get past this whole race thing. We need someone who can get past the "good ole" boy politics. If nothing else, I mean at the VERY least, Obama or Clinton could stand up and give a well thought out, articulate speech that doesn't sound like it's "cow polks day at the big white house"....

My apologies...
My apologies that the post "Funny and Scary" has two different fonts. The stupid ass internet in the house decided to magically lose the wireless signal right after I published it. When I got back online I couldn't get it fixed so it just looks stupid. It's pissing me off too bad to sit here and try to figure out how to fix it so I'm leaving it as is....again, my apologies...
Funny and Scary
Okay, here's a quick list of some of the scary comments from some of my professors. For those of you who don't know, I'm a full time student again this semester and it's been very interesting!
Day 1 - My math professor wants us to say our name and what our major is or what we want our career to be.
A girl next to me says: "I want to be a lawyer!"
Math Professor: "Oh no, you don't want to be a lawyer, they're all crooks!"
Me: "EXCUSE ME???" (math professor looks at me)
Math Professor: "Well, they are [crooks]. They defend criminals!!"
Me: "Uh, have you ever heard of the Constitution?"
Yep, making a big impression and it's only my first dang day!
Day 1 - My English professor, who looks like he never washes his hair, has his wrinkled dress shirt un-tucked, and I suspect goes home to watch "Lord of the Rings" movies alone every night contributed this little gem. Now, I want to start by saying he was totally serious when he said this...I'm not kidding...
The first day of class it was very hot in our room. This classroom has computers at every desk.
Student: "Man, it's really hot in here."
English Professor: "Yeah, they have to keep it hot in here so the computers don't freeze up."
Dang, I can't even type that one without laughing out loud!
Okay, last one...
This one happened a few days ago...
We have to do a research paper for my psychology class and I asked my professor this question. Keep in mind that this professor is a clinical psychologist!
Me: "Professor, do you want us to use MLA format on our research papers?"
Psych Professor: "What's that?"
Me: "Never mind."
Thought going through my mind at the same time: "Should be an easy "A"..."
Okey-dokey! Yet one more genius who is molding minds in between spilling coffee on his white shirts everyday. Seriously, I'm tempted to pull out my Tide pen and show this guy how to use it one day.
More to follow....but for now...

Today is THE day people!
Yes, if you haven't voted early, get out there today and vote!! Of course, you have the opportunity to vote twice! Vote in the primary and then vote in the caucus. I've been feeling like total crap all week and I'm still going to the caucus tonight. (I voted early in the primary!).
So, my fellow Texan-Americans, get out there and do your duty! No excuses...
