Jesse Jackson, What a Stooge!

You know, I've never been a fan of Jesse Jackson. I refuse to use the term "Reverend" in front of his name. He is "Politician" Jesse Jackson in my mind. But what Jesse Jackson said on national television this past week is absolutely deplorable. Here we are at a historic time in our nation. We have a black, Presidential nominee and what does this idiot do? He chooses to speak when he should know he has a microphone on and tells another person that he wants to "cut his balls off." What is this man thinking?

I don't buy the whole, "I thought our conversation was private" crap. He's been on television about a billion times and he's not smart enough to remember that he has a microphone on? Hello, McFly? Also, that makes it worse in my mind because now the entire country knows that he is backing Obama in public but doesn't like him in private. It is also enough to make some voters change their mind. It could make some voters think twice about who they cast their vote for in the upcoming election. Yes, there are some people who would be swayed by something like this. Jesse Jackson has caused harm to the Obama campaign in my mind. For someone who has fought for the rights of black Americans, he's just helped them take one giant step backwards. Perhaps he should learn when to keep his mouth shut.

this speaks to the issue of why people will back obama. they may not like him, jackson for example, but just because he is our 1sy black nominee, we must vote for him. that is a bad place to be. i would hope that people vote on the issues, not the color of skin.

I absolutely agree that people should vote on issues, not race or sex. What a great day for our country when we are finally able to do that, but let's face reality. Our country is still not there yet. Racism & sexism is alive and well in the U.S.A.

I think for someone like Jesse Jackson to make a huge error like that is just plain dumb.

yes, i agree. i wonder it it was a real mistake or done on purpose. who knows.

yes, there are 'isms' still out there, unfortunately. but i believe most people try not to live by them and try to see the character of a person, not the race or sex.

this will be a little controversial, but there is also sexism toward men. do you notice all of the commercials that allude to the 'dumb' husband or the husband that need sspecial instruction to do a merial task? they are funny, but they are sexist. i wonder why the men of this country or better yet the special interest groups are not up in arms about that.

just a thought.
