Community Organizers

Well, the attacks on Community Organizers really set me off last night.  What a bunch of pretentious twits.  Community Organizers step in when politicians fail their communities.  They provide leadership, build relationships and strengthen this country's communities.  Apparently, the Republicans don't think that is valuable.  If I were a Community Organizer, I would not be happy but I wouldn't be surprised either.  It's just one more way the Republicans have proved themselves to be out of touch and in the dark about real issues.

Here's Roland Martins view.

this is the definition of community organizing and /or community organizers from wikipedia:

Community organizing is a process by which disempowered people—most often low- and moderate-income people—are brought together to act in their common self-interest. Community organizers act as area-wide coordinators of programs for different agencies in an attempt to meet community needs for health and welfare services. They also facilitate self-help programs initiated by local common-interest groups, for example, by training local leaders to analyze and solve the problems of a community. Community organizers work actively, as do other types of social workers, in community councils of social agencies and in community-action groups. At times the role of community organizers overlaps that of the social planners.[1]

this is a very generic description of what a community organizer is and does. what were some of the specific programs that obama founded or resurrected? what projects did he spear head or build up? i think we are making light of this 'credential' because it is so vague. give us the details so we can add it to his experience column.

First, In academic circles, Wikipedia is not highly regarded as a source of reliable information. Second, do some research and accept that opposing opinions are not automatically wrong. I'm tired of playing at this point.

AH hah, another Liberal espousing what is accepted in academic circles as if a Republican can not be part of those circles. It is interesting how you liberals refer to the Republicans as intellectually inferior that are not capable of being part of your elitist group. When you can not debate you resort to ad hominem attacks on the opposing party. I never understood why disagreeing is received as a personal attack. Healthy debate is always good. Another observation I have made is how venomous and hateful you liberals can be. Signed Kris's Husband EW

Thanks KW. I have no interest in being enemies with you or your husband. We are still supposed to be united in Christ. I think EW's post was out of line but I will allow it to stay because I respect you & I know you both to be oustanding people. And because I will respect freedom of speech as well as personal opinions. I never felt that the debate was healthy or fun so it was time to end it so no more harm was done. Best to you both!
